Tommaso de Vio or simply 'Cardinal Cajetan' was an Italian Roman Catholic Cardinal and a philosopher and theologian who famously debated Martin Luther and is one of the most prominent commentators of Saint Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologica and De Ente et Essentia.

Cardinal Cajetan examines here in this treatise the foundations of the Catholic Church, the basis for the Papacy, Agianst Conciliarism and the Question of a Heretical Pope. The specific Latin translation may differ slightly from the early 1500s version but the same substantial idea remains.
