Benedictus Henricus Merkelbach, O.P.'s Summa theologiae moralis ad mentem D. Thomae et ad normam iuris novi, volume I (De principiis), is a twentieth-century manual of Catholic moral theology. Published in Paris by Desclée de Brouwer in 1935, it organizes fundamental moral principles—human acts, conscience, law, sin, merit, and related questions—through a Thomistic framework updated to the canon-law context of the period. The three-volume Summa stands as a representative Dominican manual for seminary and academic formation, while later moral theology reassessed the manual tradition.
